Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have online counselling?
Yes. If you would prefer not to meet face to face then we can meet via zoom or by phone. Sessions run for 50 minutes and usually once a week at first. This may change as time goes on to once every two weeks.
How much does counselling cost?
From 1st February 2024 price is £50 for a 1 hour session. I offer a £5 per hour reduction for for trainee counsellors for counselling or supervision . Payment is requested in advance if online or contactless if in person
Are there any concessions/reductions?
I offer a small reduction for anyone on benefit, minimum wage, NHS employees and anyone working in emergency services or education.
How long does it take and how do I decide if this is the right counsellor for me?
Counselling can be as short (usually 6 sessions minimum) or as long as you like. To start I'd suggest a free 30 minute conversation either face to face session or zoom/phone. At the end of this you can decide whether its right for you.
What happens if I have to cancel?
It depends. If its an emergency or you are really ill then there is no charge. Otherwise 24 hours cancellation is usually required. Short notice cancellation may result in the full fee being charged.
Who will know what I talk about in counselling? Does the counsellor keep information about me?
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical Framework. What is said in the counselling room is confidential, unless the counsellor believes that the client or another person is at immediate risk of harm, or they admit they are a terrorist, money launderer or drug trafficker.
